Catherine Papworth Hope Tribute Fund

Catherine Papworth was born in Tyldesley, the youngest of 3 children to Kathleen and Alf on December 19, 1969. She is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family. Upon leaving school at 16, she initially trained to be an hairdresser, winning the student of the year award at college, before realising after two years that her mum and dad had been correct in saying that hairdressing was long hours on your feet for not too much financial reward. She entered the world of insurance and joined GRE in Manchester where she spent 12 happy years. In the later years she worked in their Claims Department and it was there where I first came across Catherine whilst I was working for Robins Loss Adjusters in Manchester. She was always amongst the first to arrive at our annual Beajolais Client event. By coincidence, she joined Robins herself on in January 2001, initially at their Warrington Office before moving to their Manchester Office later that year. We started going out at the end of 2003 and bought our house together in Flixton in May 2005. We married on 16 September 2005 and when Daniel was born on 20 October 2008 after Catherine had suffered 3 miscarriages our life was complete. Only 3 months later Catherine was diagnosed with cancer, but thanks to her amazing bravery, optimism, kindness and sense of humour, together with the support of family, friends and the medical staff at The Christie we enjoyed 3 very happy years together as a family, until her life was tragically cut short on 23 February 2012, aged just 42. Despite her illness, she was a brilliant mum, wife, daughter and friend to many. She never stopped smiling or caring about others and lived her life to the full. Catherine was truly amazing and it would be a fitting tribute to raise money for the Christie in her memory.
